Bug Post

A Whole Lotta Bugs. 20, To Be Exact

When drivers don’t use their turn signals
Why?  They were never taught the importance of a turn signal.

When the same headlight falls out of my scooter over and over again even after fixing it
Why?  Poor manufacturing and the glue holding the light in place melts in the Florida heat

When my roommates blast the A/C in the summer and run a high utility bill
Why?  Cold air feels great in the summer, but they aren’t worried about the bill

When my roommates don’t make room on the drying rack for more clean dishes and just leave their day-or-two-old clean dishes on it
Why?  They either forget or are just not willing to make the effort to move the dishes

When you are waiting for a parking spot, but the way the driver you are waiting on pulls out of the spot allows someone else across from you who wasn’t waiting for as long take the spot
Why?  The other person trying to park is rude, but this situation occurs because the driver who is leaving the parking spot creates an opening for one of the other two drivers, but blocks off the last driver

Obstructed views at stop signs, stoplights, and other intersections
Why?  Poor planning, long hoods on cars, and even general landscape issues like large hills all contribute to this

When people at Southwest Rec don’t put away their weights properly or wipe off the sweaty equipment after they use it
Why?  They are lazy and inconsiderate of other lifters.  The first offender to misplace weights makes it more difficult for the next, creating a cycle of inconsideration

When you can’t remember enough of “that one song I heard on the radio a few days ago” to find it on the internet, but it was a really good song
Why?  You could’ve forgotten to look it up right after you heard it and by the time you remembered to look up the song, you had forgotten the lyrics

When new people you meet act like they know everything about everything
Why?  They are likely trying to make a good impression and show off their intelligence, but it comes off as arrogance and it’s very annoying

Inefficient/unhelpful medical service: A couple of family members have had severe back issues (cracked vertebrae, sciatica, etc.), and were bounced around from doctor to doctor for months with no solution in sight
Why?  The doctors, even some specialists, that were seen were either uncomfortable dealing with these issues or their solutions didn't work.

Having to pay for parking, expensive books, other school software and services even though we pay thousands of dollars to attend
Why?  The school wants to make more money

The lack of parking spots on campus, despite going through the process of buying a decal
Why?  Combination of not having enough spots near important classroom buildings and people buying decals just to keep their cars in those good spots

The lack of parking options for going to midtown
Why?  The two small plazas near midtown have restricted parking, even though their lots are often empty and there is very limited street parking.

When my new gaming controller has the exact same problem as my old, “broken” one right after buying it
Why?  Poor manufacturing may have caused a consistent problem across a “batch” of controllers

Being told by everyone that showing face will help you get a part-time job in college, but when you try to show face, employers tell you to apply online
Why?  The employers may want a more consistent application process.  They may prioritize resumes over one’s personality and willingness to work.

When the hurricane gas line blocks an intersection and forces you to choose between a long detour and a potentially illegal, shorter path
Why?  During a hurricane watch, people are desperate to fill up on gas in case it runs out, so they line up down the street and don’t worry about blocking intersections and lanes.

When my apartment complex’s inefficient maintenance work order system causes you to wait weeks to get simple things fixed
Why?  There are very few maintenance workers.  Also, there is a strange work order priority system, which can cause issues not marked "URGENT" to take weeks to fix.

When the bus starts moving before you get the chance to sit down
Why?  The drivers are on a tight schedule and aren’t willing to wait the extra 2 seconds it takes for you to get settled or stable.

When SNAP isn’t closed yet, but will close soon and won’t accept your ride request
Why?  They don’t want to be driving past 3 in the morning.  Also, the cars are school property and there may be legal issues or general work issues involved with keeping the cars out past closing time.

When wasps hide or make a nest in your sideview mirror
Why?  It’s nature.  The wasps see a safe, secluded place to hide and claim it as their own.  This means they will defend their hiding place as well.

Reflection

I didn't have many problems when coming up with this list.  However, I did have issues figuring out how to word my "bugs".  In order to understand why something bugs me or what exactly bugs me, I need to properly describe my bug.  Some of the issues required some explaining, but I believe that I did a decent job getting the idea across.
